Toke Makinwa blasted on social media over comment on xenophobic attacks
OAP Toke Makinwa has been blasted by Nigerians on social media over her post on the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
In a post she shared on social media, Toke Makinwa expressed love for South Africans as she called for the evil of xenophobia to stop.
“I love the people of South Africa, I know so many hardworking South Africans and you all have shown me love and so I implore you all to stand up for what is right. We all cannot continue in silence, if hate lingers nobody wins. Our doors have been nothing but welcoming to you all, we have so many South Africans living and working here, we make music together, promote our fashion to the rest of the world explore both cultures. Now let’s come together to fight this evil in our midst. We are all Africans, a win for us is for us to the world. United. This is so sad, so disturbing, so painful. One Love” CONTINUE HERE
However, a post she shared on Twitter didn’t sit well with Nigerians who took it to mean she was supporting South Africans.
SThe tweet from Toke Makinwa:
”Not all stories out of Nigeria is a true reflection of Nigerians. I have seen tweets saying a life for a life, and again I say not all South Africans are Xenophobic. The killings in your country, police brutality, your government silence and you want more people to die?”
