Taraba: Bandits kill, set catholic priest ablaze
Reverend Father David Tanko, a Catholic priest at Kufai Amadu in Takum, Taraba State, has been killed by a group of bandits.
Channels TV reports that the cleric was attacked while on his way to a peace meeting aimed at resolving the crisis between Tiv and Junkun.
Confirming the incident, the chairman of the council, Shiban Tikari, stated that the reverend father’s car was set ablaze with him inside after he was killed.
Tikari added that the attack was carried out by Tiv militias whom he blamed for several other attacks, stating that the reason for the attack is not known.
All efforts to reach police spokesperson, David Misal, have proven abortive, with calls and text messages sent to his phone not responded to.
The attack is coming barely 24 hours after two men were killed in Taraba in an attack carried out by bandits.
