Sarri speaks on stopping Ronaldo from free-kick duties
Maurizio Sarri has stated that he won’t stop Ronaldo from playing free-kick for Juventus despite the Portuguese’ poor record.
Ronaldo has failed to score any of the 29 free-kick he’s played since joining Juventus in 2018.
18 went straight into the wall, 7 saved, two missed while two deflected off the wall.
Ronaldo wasted two more in a Champions League game against Lokomotiv Moscow which led to huge criticisms on social media and in Juventus blogs. Many wondered why other expert free-kick takers like Pjanic and Dybala are not used.
When asked to address the issue, Sarri didn’t say much.
“The free kicks? We have two right-footed options on the pitch: him [Pjanic] and Ronaldo. So they will have to decide among themselves who takes them, as happens in just about any other side,” he said.
