Robert Mugabe buried in steel coffin for security reasons
Robert Mugabe has finally been laid to rest in a steel coffin covered in concrete layer on September 28 following much dispute over his resting place.
The dispute was between his family members, government officials and traditionalists.
Mugabe was buried in Kutama Zvimba, the village of his birth which his 55 miles north west of Harare.
According to his nephew Leo Mugabe, the coffin which Mugabe’s remains came in from Singapore had to be changed for security reasons.
“People really are after his body or his body parts, so we wanted something that is tamper-proof. That is why the casket was changed,” he told a local radio station.
He added that the burial place was were he wanted and had spoken about it before he died.
