US President, Donald Trump has called for a stop to religious persecution while speaking during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The event has in attendance leaders from all over the world, including President Buhari.
“Today, with one clear voice, the United States of America calls on nations of the world to end religious persecution.
“Our rights do not come from government, they come from God,” Trump said.
Trump added that persecution is suffered by people of all faith, but Christians suffer it more.
Vice President Mike Pence who introduce Trump stated that countries like Iran, China, Nicaragua and Venezuela are where religious persecution is suffered the most.
Joined in the discussion is UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres who stated that religious freedom is a “pressing global issue”.
