Rapper Biz Markie hospitalized for weeks after diabetes triggered illness
American rapper Biz Markie has been battling an illness in hospital for weeks – with the health crisis triggered by his Type II Diabetes.
The 56-year-old rapper – whose actual name is Marcel Theo Hall –
has been receiving treatment at a hospital in Maryland, although the extent of his condition is yet to be revealed.
Representatives for the music star told TMZ that Biz was not suffering from the deadly coronavirus illness,
but his Type II Diabetes had caused that his condition.

A spokesperson told the publication:
“He is receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals and we remain positive about the outcome.”

It is not clear exactly when the Just A Friend rapper was admitted to hospital,
he has not updated his social media channels for over a month.
He last shared a video on Twitter back on the 17 June – while it has not updated his Instagram page since 18 June.
Type II Diabetes is a condition that causes blood sugar levels to become too high.
The NHS lists symptoms as:
“excessive thirst, needing to pee a lot and tiredness”, and warn:
“It can also increase your risk of getting serious problems with your eyes, heart, and nerves.”
He declared he lost 140 lbs and dropped from 385 lbs to 244 lbs after increasing exercise and improving his diet.
He told ABC News at the time:
“If I didn’t make the changes, it would make the diabetes worse.”
“[Doctors] said I could lose my feet. They said I could lose body parts. A lot of things could happen.”
The NHS advises those suffering from Diabetes to have their feet, eyes, blood pressure,
cholesterol and kidneys tested once a year to help monitor the illness.
