Naomi Campbell took a subtle sideswipe at her old rival Tyra Banks by posting a link to an article saying the American model was “the real mean girl”.
The pair trace their feud back to the supermodel era when Banks accuses Campbell of trying to ruin her fledgling career.
Campbell used her Instagram account to link to an article headlined
“Here’s Why Fans Are Starting To Think Tyra Banks Is The Real Mean Girl, Not Naomi Campbell”.
The story rehashed the pair’s “iconic” rivalry including a confrontation on Banks’
show where she “poured out over a decade of resentment” against Campbell.
But it added that “people were quick to assume that Campbell was guilty” when in fact
Banks’ appearance on a recent series of America’s Next Top Model showed her in a bad light.
It accused her of trying to push “diverse” models into “a certain mold” and contrasted
her behavior with Campbell’s stint on The Face when she tried to “teach” her young charges.
Banks spoke about Campbell to the Wall Street Journal last year saying that in her early days when she seemed to be a success
“people didn’t know I was going home at night crying my eyes out because the woman I was looking up to seemed like she just didn’t want me to be there”.
She also accused Campbell of insulting her backstage telling her: “You’ll never be me”,a claim Campbell denied, saying:
“I’m not someone to go and give myself away and say that to anybody. I’ve never said that in my life.
