Mourinho in talks with Tottenham to replace Pochettino as manager
Jose Mourinho is currently in talks with Tottenham Hotspur towards replacing Maurico Pochettino as its manager.
Pochettino got sacked by the London side on Tuesday after a terrible start to the season. The club has only managed to win 5 games this season despite reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League this year.
Chairman Daniel Levy decided that a change would be in the best interest of the club.
Mourinho is said to be desirous of returning to England so he can win a major trophies with a third English club. He was sacked last December by Manchester United and has been without a job.
Reports say both Mourinho and Tottenham believe a deal will be struck by Wednesday so he can have his first game in charge against West Ham on Saturday.
Sky Sport pundit, Jamie Carragher stated that the reason why Mourinho would be a good choice for Tottenham is because he delivers trophies, a thing the club lacked under Pochettino.
“If Jose wants to get into top-level management, you’ve only got to look at his CV,” he said on Sky Sports News. “People question the Manchester United job, but his career as a whole has been hugely successful, and that’s one thing Tottenham have lacked at the moment.
“As well as Pochettino has done, they haven’t quite got over the line to get a trophy, and that’s what Jose Mourinho does when he goes to a club.”
