According to the Lagos State Governor, Sanwo Olu
According to him, “The extant Transport Sector Reform Law 2018 bans the operation of Motorcycles (Okada) and Tricycles (Keke) in some local government areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). … The law is very clear. Motorcycles (okada) and tricycles (keke) are banned on all highways, bridges and listed roads.
Read my Letter:
I understand the fact that you are concern about the safety of lives of Nigerians who are base in Lagos State but that is not a good reason for you to ban Okada and Kekenapep and deprive them of their source of income.
You should also know that it does not reduce the mad traffics going on across the express road and infact this morning , it’s gotten more worse than ever before.
Nigerians standing on the express road for over more than one hour looking for Okada , Kekenapep and Danfo Bus and people fighting over trying to board a small bus so they can go to their respective places.
Let’s not forget that the safety of Nigerians will be terrible and pathetic due to second or one chance motors and the rate of theft, armed robbery , kidnapping and all other crimes will be added to the one mentioned.
I will like you to consider your decision to ban okada and kekenapep because you are bringing issues that should not be the main issue to sort out , in terms of security , work with the Police Force , Military and the construction of roads those are points to consider.
