Kidnappings, robbery and rape have taken over villages in Katsina State – Kadaria Ahmed
Renowned journalist, Kadaria Ahmed has stated that kidnappings, abductions, rustling, robbery and regular rape have become the order of the day in villages in Katsina State.
In a series of tweets, Kadaria Ahmed expressed displeasure at the fact that nothing is being done by security agents to curb the situation.
Calling on the attention of the State governor and all security operatives, Kadaria Ahmed tweeted:
“Credible information says Katsina State villages&towns inlcuding #Dutsen Ma, #Jibia #Kurfi, #Safana, #Dan Musa are now epi centers of kidnappings, abductions, rustling & robbery & the regular rape and sexual assault.
“We hear these criminal operations are occuring on a regular basis and 10s of people are now getting killed on a regular basis. These raids according to residents and religious leaders last between 3 to 4 hours.
“And for those hours, there is zero intervention from the security services. Residents say when they complain, people in government accuse them of lying. A refusal to accept there is even a problem suggests no action will be taken.
“Given the progress made in tackling insecurity in neigbouring #ZamfaraState which shares a border with #KatsinaState thanks to the work of @Bellomatawalle1 the escalation in the state was predictable. This is not rocket science.
“I am therefore shocked that nothing was put in place to ensure displaced bandits in #ZamfaraState do not relocate to neighbouring states.
“Security is critical. The people of #KatsinaState feel abandoned. @MBuhari It is time to declare a state of emergency on insecurity. If you don’t get a handle on insecurity, it won’t matter what else you do.This will be your legacy!
“We can’t secure states in isolation so pls closer cooperation between @GovernorMasari &leaders of neighbouring states. They are talking but they need to work with greater urgency. Victims don’t have the luxury of time”.
