Disqualification of Lionheart at Oscars sad, unfair – Femi Fani Kayode
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK, has labelled the disqualification of Lionheart from Oscar as ”sad and unfair”.
Lionheart, a movie by Genevieve Nnaji, was disqualified because it is predominantly in English, which goes against the rules governing the Best International Features category it was hoping to be nominated for.
Reacting to the disqualification, Femi Fani-Kayode tweeted:
‘‘It is so sad and unfair, after- all English is our lingua franca in Nigeria even though we hate to admit it’’ he said.
“My heart goes out to @GenevieveNnaji1 and all the other wonderful Nigerian thespians both in Lionheart and in other Nollywood movies that have brought honour and glory to Nigeria through their noble endeavours. Despite this setback, you have done us proud! Keep it up! #Lionheart.”
