Breaking: South African government denies xenophobic attacks
The South African government have denied the xenophobic attacks reportedly perpetrated by South Africans against Nigerians and other foreigners.
The South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Monroe, made this known during a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.
Speaking during a brief meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, Bobby Monroe stated that the attacks are not”xenophobic” in nature but are rather mere ‘sporadic acts of violence’.
He further stated that the attacks which started on the 2nd of September are also suffered by South Africans.
Meanwhile, South Africans on social media have revealed the reason why they are carrying out xenophobic attacks on foreigners in their country.
Videos and pictures are currently trending on social media showing properties e.g houses, cars and shops, owned by foreigners getting burnt.
Also, the videos show foreigners getting chased across the streets, beaten and burnt alive by South Africans.
