BREAKING: Court strikes out DSS application to detain Sowore
An application by the Department for State Security to further detain Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has been struck out by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday.
This was after the State counsel withdrew the application before the court.
Responding to the new development, Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana, asked the court to release him since the applicant is no longer interested in detaining him any further.
This was challenged by State counsel who stated that a formal suit has been filed against Sowore in regards to treasonable felony.
According to the prosecutor, Sowore should be denied bail because the fresh charges against him are same as capital offence.
