Ibrahim Sodeeq, a visually impaired boy from Oyo state, has demonstrated a brilliant skill by riding a bicycle. Sodeeq made the demonstration of his skill along Isemi-Ile road, Okeho on Friday, January 24. It should be noted that the brilliant boy was a good bicycle rider before he became blind in 2010, The visually impaired boy, Ibrahim Sodeeq has been receiving accolades and surprises from both the able and disabled people, due to his ability and willingness to ride a bicycle despite his current condition of blindness.
During a practical demonstration of the riding exercise that took place at his hotel premises, Off Adegbite’s road along Isemi-Ile road, Okeho on Friday, January 24th, Sodeeq said he was a perfect and professional bicycle rider before he became blind in 2010.
He said before he became blind he used to ride bicycles within the town and also to the nearest towns, villages, and communities.
The JSS2 student said that though he was down when he lost his sight, he is happy now with the extraordinary things he could do. Sodeeq, a JSS2 student at Awoyemi Commercial High School Okeho said he only lost his outer eyes but his inner eyes have been of great help.
He also said that he could weave, make beads and bags, and also engage in other entrepreneurial activities that help pay his bills and sponsor his education. On the current situation of his blindness, Sodeeq said though he was not happy and felt bad when he became a blind person in 2010, he was now happy because his blindness has encouraged him to do things he could not believe he could do.
The 22 years-old aspired journalist said he prays and aspires to become a great journalist and newscaster.
He urged people with no disabilities to see people with disabilities as creatures of God who should not be condemned because of their current challenges.
Sodeeq called on government at all levels to include the handicaps in their scheme of things, adding that they were only disabled but not mentally imbalanced.
