Male To Perish By Suspension For Murdering Employer

Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja has delivered a death sentence by suspension to a 30-year-old male, Jeffrey Ehizojie, for slaying his employer, Olusola Olusoga, who owned Etsahol Hotel and Suites and the manager of the hotel, Tunji Omikunle.

Judge Ogala declared Ehizojie to be perilous to his life after confirming the prosecution had established the components of the accusation beyond any doubt.

The doomed perpetrator, who was functioning as a supervisor in the hotel during the time of the crime, was arraigned before the court on a two-count charge related to killing.

The state informed the judge during the trial that Ehizojie committed the offense on January 25, 2019, at approximately 3 am on 42, Budland Street, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.

The convict was also accused of colluding with other individuals still at large to pilfer from the hotel manager and owner but ultimately strangled them.

The offense went against the stipulations of sections 233 and 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

In her ruling, Judge Ogala stated that the prosecution’s case was founded on the defendant’s truthfully confessed statement and circumstantial proof.

She proclaimed, “There is no doubt that the defendant was present at the premises of the crime scene, as confirmed by his testimony and exhibits before the court,” affirmed Justice Ogala.

The judge articulated that “after thoroughly evaluating the facts in this case, I now discover the defendant to be guilty of the two-count charge against him.

“The verdict of this court upon you, Jeffrey Ehizogie, is that you be suspended by the neck until your demise,” declared Justice Ogala.
