Governor Akeredolu is not disabled – Ondo state govt

The Ondo government has affirmed that the governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu, is not incapacitated and will resume duty soon.

This assertion comes after the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, on Monday alleged that Akeredolu is hospitalized and in a state of “extreme incapacity”.

Adamu made this statement during his meeting with state chairmen of the party in Abuja on Monday.

Akeredolu had commenced a 21-day leave on June 7 and was expected to resume on July 6. However, he sent a letter to the state house of assembly, extending his medical leave.

In a statement on Tuesday, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, Ondo commissioner for information, stated that the governor is not in a critical condition.

“The national chairman was indeed pleased with the reports on the rate of recovery of the Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and urged all those present at the meeting to pray for his speedy return,” Ademola-Olateju said.

“He is, evidently, not in any critical state that should warrant this clearly reproachable conduct as he still shared a post to the executive council committee platform yesterday.

“Mr. Governor is not disabled. He will resume his duties as soon as the doctors declare him fully capable to do so.”
