First Lady Remi Tinubu Refutes Claims of Ordering Closure Of Villa Chapel

The closure of the Aso Villa Chapel has been vehemently denied by First Lady, Mrs Remi Tinubu, following recent social media reports.

In a statement on Monday night, the First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi, categorically refuted the claims and described them as fabrications and completely false representations.

In the statement, it was clarified that the First Lady did not issue any directive for the closure of the Aso Villa Chapel or the transfer of its keys into her possession.

On the contrary, the statement confirmed that weekly fellowships are currently being held at the chapel.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that the office of the President has not yet appointed a new Chaplain for the chapel since the departure of the previous Chaplain.

It was highlighted that the authority to make such an appointment rests solely with the President.

She said, “we have been made aware of a story circulating on social media regarding the alleged closure of the AsoRock Chapel by the First Lady of Nigeria, Sen Olurermi Tinubu.

“We would like to state clearly that this is a fabrication and an entirely false representation of the true situation, as the First Lady never gave any such directive to shut down the Chapel and hand over the keys to Her Excellency.

“Currently, there are ongoing weekly
fellowships at the Chapel.

“However, the President has not yet appointed a Chaplain for the chapel after the departure of the previous Chaplain, as the appointment rests solely with him.”
