Gunmen Fire at Vigilante, Sentinels, Steal N3.3m At Minna Emir’s Palace

Gunmen suspected to be robbers have pursued Minna Emirate councils treasurer to the Emir palace’s entrance shooting at a sentinel leader, two palace sentinels and taking away N3.3m.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the armed individuals followed the vehicle passing through palace road at approximately 4 pm when the treasurer was returning from a commercial bank and opened fire at the vehicle in front of the Emir Palace.

The Emir was reportedly inside the palace while gunmen shot intermittently to intimidate people before they escaped with an undisclosed sum of money belonging to the Minna Emirate.

Two of the wounded palace sentinels were reportedly transported to Minna General Hospital for medical treatment.

An observer said the criminals overpowered the vigilantes in the palace following a gun confrontation.

LEADERSHIP reports that 13 members of a vigilance corps were killed while 30 others were kidnapped by bandits in Niger State three weeks ago.
